10 Ways to Wear Black Pants for Women

How to Style One Black Pants with 10 Tops

10 ways to wear black pants! Here’s 2 weeks’ worth of workwear inspiration. At my office, our dress code resembles a casual workwear look. So the next 10 workwear outfits range from sleeveless to blazer. Mix it up with cami’s and outerwear to create even more looks.

Key when purchasing tops is to choose a variety. I like to wear a lot of black camis and change the cardigan, kimono or jackets due to the season.

One of your best investments for your wardrobe is black pants. They are super versatile and will become one of your favorite pieces in your closet. Our favorites styles for rectangle shape body are from: Loft, Banana Republic, Vince Camuto, or Leggings whichever style is most comfortable for you.

Outfit #1 Sleeveless Top

Orange Peplum Top

A Peplum top can be a fabulous choice for rectangle-shaped bodies to give an hourglass look. Be mindful that the bodice is not too wide, because that could add weight to your middle section. A sleeveless top like this is very versatile because you can wear it on its own and choose a color that represents the season you are in. When seasons change you can add a cardigan to match the new season.

Outfit #2 Sleeveless Monochromatic Top

All in Black for Work

black pants with sleeveless ruffled black top

Black is my basic go-to color and this monochromatic look is a favorite of mine. Basic black pants (a staple of mine) paired with a sleeveless black top. We changed out the plain cami for this ruffled v-neck with ruffle cap sleeves. It’s slimming because of the elastic waist. The elastic waist also gives shape to a rectangle shape body type. It comes with lining but is still lightweight. The ruffles around the neckline and sleeves add a more sophisticated look.

Outfit  #3 Flutter Sleeve Henley Blouse

Orange Ruffles for Spring

Need some color? Here’s a great bright orange top that will turn every head! This 3/4 flutter sleeve drapes nicely and fits comfortably. The v-neck elongates your neck if you want to look longer and thinner. You can tuck it in or leave it out, and the armholes aren’t tight. You can create a more casual look by pairing the top with jeans or using basic black work pants to make a workwear outfit. To keep this outfit casual but workwear add a pair of slip-on espadrilles.

Outfit #4 Fine-Knit Cardigan

Sunburst Cami for Spring!

Racerback Cami brown black and beige banana

This is a great cami to take you from fall to spring. The cami is a racerback style that is made of mostly polyester with a little spandex, no wrinkle no iron needed. The print is a starburst of brown, black, and beige. It falls just above the hips, is slim fitting and the straps are adjustable. Without the cardigan, it’s a great spring weekend wear. Add a cardigan and the basic black pants it makes a great workwear outfit. Slip-on sandals are my favorite for work because you don’t have to fuss with the straps.

Outfit #5 Sleeveless Trench Coat

Leopard Print Tank Top and More!

Leopard print tank top

One of my all-time favorites is this “leopard print” tank top. It’s super versatile, comes in several colors (I have about six different colors), is super comfortable, and is under $15. If you’re lucky enough to find it on sale, I’ve seen it as low as $8. You can dress this casual tank top up with a sleeveless trench for a more biker look. I also use it for traveling. I have three go-to basic black pants, LOFT, Banana Republic (Sloan), and Vince Camuto. All three of these styles are perfect for those with rectangle body shapes. The sleeveless trench is from “It’s a New Day” here is similar. Top it off with some black booties, here is a similar pointed toe.

The make-up that I tried today was the Nars Radiant Cream Color Corrector. It’s a thin liquid formula that worked great for crepe under the eye.

Outfit #6 Sleeveless Open Front Cardigan

Pale Pink Cardigan

It’s time to get ready for spring fashion. Some things don’t change for me no matter what season, and that would be the basic black pants. But bring on the sleeveless cardigan and pale pink color to give you the spring feeling. Add a little pop with the polka dot cami, and give your feet a spring feel with the black zipper-up espadrille.

Outfit # 7 Long Sleeve Duster

Another Great Cardigan!

Give this all-black look a pop of color with another great pale pink cardigan, and these great Rockstud Valentino dupes make this a Chic for Cheap outfit for sure!

Let’s start with the Valentino Dupes for under $50. Super comfortable sandals with 3 1/2″ heel, slight padding on the footbed, and I have it in size 6.5. You can’t go wrong with this price!

The black pleather leggings are another budget-friendly piece and were super comfortable. Basic black cami is one of my favorite basic pieces for work. I have several from Loft, Nordstrom, Banana Republic Factory, and Naked Zebra.

I usually wait for a sale and I purchase black cami’s consistently all year long. Lastly, for this outfit, I threw on this pale pink cardigan to soften the all-black look. I like this cardigan because, it’s very thin, pretty form-fitting (not a lot of bulky extra material), perfect for rectangle shape body, and comes in several colors.

Outfit# 8 Kimono

Kimono Work Cover-Up

ivory scalloped cami black pull-on pants and striped kimono and nude quilted top sandals

This kimono is listed as a beach cover-up, but I use it for work outwear. It comes in several colors, is lightweight, and was an “Amazon Choice” when I purchased it.

The scalloped cami is another basic I use with black pants. This cami is one of my favorites and comes in several colors depending on the season. It’s perfect to wear under cardigans, kimonos, and jackets. These pull-on black pointe pants are super comfortable and at a great price point!

Chic for Cheap’s tip…..wait for a sale, I bought it for under $15. Lastly, quilted top sandals in the nude have been my go-to footwear for some of my latest spring outfits. The quilting is comfortable, and the heel height is great, but it’s a little on the heavier side.

Outfit #9 Cropped Twill Utility Jacket

Spring Cropped Jacket

Green crop jacket for spring
Kickoff spring with a new work outfit! I found this jacket that is a fantastic choice for a spring look. The drawstring hem helps to cinch your middle section to give a rectangle body shape a waistline. This jacket fits true to size and is very soft and comfortable. The crop-style jacket is perfect for shorter gals.
My standard basic black pants. The more current style has a button front. Here again, my favorite is pairing the basic black pants with a black scalloped racerback cami top.
This cami comes in several colors and is usually stocked year-round. I have about 6 different colors. These black slides are true to size, the footbed is stiff, but the top strap is comfortable. Right now is the best time to grab it because it’s on sale for 60% off, so it’s under $40!Jacket: size S

Outfit #10 Drape Collar Knit Blazer

Knit Blazer Wears Like a Cardigan

knit blazer

Last but not least, this is the absolute best casual blazer for work! It’s a cotton knit blend that is super soft and comfy. This jacket feels like you’re wearing a cardigan, but it looks so professional. It has a great shape with a smaller waist and flares out around the hips, so it gives a rectangle body shape an hourglass figure. It is one of my favorite blazers, and I have it in camo and olive, but it comes in several colors. Get it now while it’s on sale, the camo print is under $41, and the solid is under $52.
